If what you want is a restful holiday in tranquil surroundings and spectacular scenery there is no need to travel.  Enjoy walking and birdwatching in the immediate area.  Murtas, just 6km away has restaurants, bars and a swimming pool (open in summer).

Visit the Bodegas and try the local wine.  Alpujarras and Costa wine comes mainly from the Sierra de la Contraviesa and tends to be strong and fairly raw.

Further afield there are many interesting places to visit.

The coast is only 40 minutes away. Enjoy a traditional Spanish resort in the village of La Rabita with restaurants and bars. 

Visit the picturesqe villages of Pampaniera, Bubion and Capiliera in the High Alpujarras which teeter on the steep edges of the Poquiera Gorge. Or to Trevelez, purportedly Spains highest permanent settlement.

The Sierra Nevada National Park is only 40 minutes away. Including Europe’s most southerly ski resort.

Enjoy horse riding from Cadiar or visit the Spa Baths at Lanjaron (open March to December).  There are also many local markets that are well worth a visit.

Granada is approximately 80km away.  Visit the Alhambra, the palace fortress of the Nasrid Sultans, rulers of the last Spanish Moorish Kingdon and one of the most exciting and romantic of all European monuments.
